Call for papers for a cross-disciplinary conference on: 'Death in Scotland, from the medieval to the modern: beliefs, attitudes and practices'

This conference invites those who are researching death from whatever disciplinary perspective to offer papers. These will be particularly welcome on the subjects of:

  • Death, grief and mourning
  • Burial and cremation
  • Folklore, customs and rituals
  • Violent death, including war
  • Plague, pestilence and famine
  • Childhood death
  • Death, poverty, age gender and status
  • Legal and medical aspects of death
  • Death, urban and rural comparisons
  • Death in literature and the visual arts
  • Theology, liturgy and funeral ministry
  • Architecture, landscape and monuments
